Lawsuit alleges young woman was victim of anesthesia-related negligence

When a person undergoes an operation which involves them being given anesthesia, they expect that the medical professionals and medical facilities/organizations that are providing them with care in connection to the procedure will act properly in relation to the giving of anesthetics. When medical professionals or medical facilities/organizations fail to live up to this expectation and commit anesthesia-related negligence, it can result in patients suffering great harm.

Recently, a case involving allegations of anesthesia-related negligence has arisen. The case is from Texas. The case involves a young woman who underwent a cesarean section at a hospital in Texas in December 2010. The woman was 16 at the time of the cesarean section.

According to the woman's family, negligence occurred in connection to this procedure. Specifically, the family alleges that the woman was given a higher dose of anesthetic than she should have been given. The woman's family claims that this alleged anesthesia-related negligence resulted in the woman suffering a variety of harms, including permanent brain damage.

A lawsuit has been brought in a federal court in Texas by the woman's family against the hospital in connection to the above allegations. An anesthesia group, a doctor and a CRNA have also been named as defendants in this lawsuit. It has been reported that damages are being sought in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, anesthesia-related negligence can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities/organizations make sure to not commit negligence like that alleged in this case. No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional or medical facility/organization failed to act properly.
