Lawsuit brought in connection to alleged wrong-site surgery

It is very important for medical professionals to not commit negligence when it comes to the surgical care of patients. No patient should have to be subjected to surgical negligence. Such negligence can be very harmful to patients.

A case has recently arisen involving allegations of surgical negligence. The case is from Texas. The case involves a man and a surgical procedure he underwent. The procedure in question was a knee surgery.

The man alleges that negligence occurred in connection to this procedure. Specifically, the man claims that the doctor who performed the procedure performed it on the wrong site. According to the man, instead of performing the surgery on his left knee (the intended surgical site) the doctor mistakenly performed the procedure on his right knee.

According to the man, this alleged surgical error resulted in him suffering a variety of harms, including:

  • Having to undergo a second surgical procedure
  • Pain
  • Mental anguish
  • Injury to his right knee

A lawsuit has been brought by the man in a court in Texas against the doctor in connection to these allegations. The article on KWES's website which reported this story did not mention what specific relief the man is asking for in his lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

As the allegations in this case underscore, surgical negligence can be very impactful on patients. One hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit surgical negligence and such negligence results in a patient suffering harm.
