Teen suffers traumatic brain injury after hit-and-run crash

When there is an accident in Boston and a person suffers from a traumatic brain injury, there are many potential problems that can arise in its aftermath. Because the brain is so complicated and the symptoms of a head injury can take time to show themselves, people might not even realize the link between an accident and their injury. When any kind of potential personal injury case occurs, it's important that the victim is aware of how their lives can be affected from the start and reacts accordingly.

A 15-year-old male was walking to school when he was hit by a car. The car that hit him was being driven by a fellow student at his school. The 17-year-old female driver failed to stop. She went to school and informed faculty what happened. The teen that was hit suffered a traumatic brain injury in the crash and was hospitalized. Part of his skull was removed via surgery so that his brain could swell. He is in constant pain, is re-learning how to read and write and is receiving physical therapy. The driver is facing felony charges for hitting the classmate and leaving the scene. She now faces trial due to the incident.

Any kind of accident can have serious consequences whether it is a car crash, an accident at work, a fall or anything else. Short of death, paralysis and a head injury can be some of the worst possible outcomes of an accident. With a traumatic brain injury, a victim can have his or her life significantly altered. There might be massive medical expenses, the need for long-term therapy and round-the-clock care. The injured person might not be able to return to work. The insurance company often offers a settlement to an injured party soon after the accident to preclude a legal filing. Unfortunately, in many instances, the offer they make is not enough to cover all the expenses.

When a victim suffers a traumatic head injury, they may not be able to return to what they once were. With all the issues one faces after this accident, they and their family may want to consider taking legal action. Contacting a legal professional to discuss the process may be a good first step to take.
