Gynecologist sued in connection to surgery

| Oct 20, 2011 | Surgical Errors

Patients can be in a very vulnerable position when they are undergoing a surgery. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to not commit negligence in connection to surgical procedures. If a medical professional acts negligently in connection to a surgery, it can result in a patient suffering injuries. Such injuries can have major impacts on a patient. Thus, surgery-related negligence can be very harmful.

Recently, a case has arisen in West Virginia involving a surgery and allegations of medical negligence. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a surgery at a hospital in West Virginia. The surgery was reportedly performed by a gynecologist from Charleston, West Virginia.

The woman alleges that the gynecologist acted negligently in connection to the surgery. The woman claims that her right ureter was wounded as a result of this alleged negligence.

The woman and her husband have brought a lawsuit in West Virginia against the gynecologist in connection to these allegations. Reportedly, in their lawsuit, the woman and her husband are asking for compensatory damages. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.

No patient should have to experience harm because a medical professional acted negligently in connection to a surgical procedure. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals make sure to avoid committing negligence like that alleged in this case. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit surgery-related negligence and such negligence results in a patient getting hurt.
