It is very important for hospitals and medical professionals to not act negligently when it comes to the administration of anesthesia to a patient during a surgical procedure. Such negligence can cause a patient to suffer a great deal of harm. No patient should have to suffer harm because a hospital and/or medical professional committed negligence in connection to the administration of anesthesia.
According to an article on the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s website, a settlement was recently reached in an Iowa case involving allegations of anesthesia-related negligence. The case involved a woman who reportedly underwent a surgical procedure at an Iowa hospital in 2004.
The woman alleged that anesthesiologists at the hospital committed negligence in connection to the administration of anesthesia during the procedure. According to the woman, she became disabled as a result of this alleged negligence.
The woman brought a lawsuit in connection to these allegations. As we mentioned above, this lawsuit was recently settled. According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen article mentioned above, as part of this settlement, the woman will receive a monetary payment.
As the allegations that were brought in this recently settled case demonstrate, negligence related to the administration of anesthesia can cause great harm to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and hospitals make sure to not act negligently when administering anesthesia to a patient. One also hopes that medical professionals and hospitals are held accountable when they commit such negligence and it results in a patient suffering harm.
