No individual should have to be subjected to negligence when they are undergoing a surgical procedure. If a medical professional commits negligence while performing a surgical procedure on a patient, it can result in surgical errors occurring. Such errors can cause great harm and can have many long-term impacts on a patient's life. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to not act negligently when performing surgical procedures.
Recently, a case has arisen in Illinois involving allegations of surgery-related negligence. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a surgical procedure in November of 2009. The surgery was allegedly performed by an Illinois doctor.
The woman alleges that this doctor committed malpractice during the surgery. Specifically, the woman claims that the doctor cut her ulnar nerve and did not repair the damage caused by this cut. The woman claims that the doctor's alleged actions have caused her to suffer a variety of harms.
Reportedly, earlier this month, the woman filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in a court in Illinois against the doctor in connection to these allegations. The woman reportedly is seeking damages in her lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.
As the allegations in this case underscore, surgical errors can be very harmful. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals make sure to act properly when they perform surgical procedures. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they negligently commit surgical errors and such errors result in a patient suffering harm.
