It is very important for medical professionals to not act negligently in connection to the delivery of a child. No infant should have to be exposed to delivery-related medical negligence. If a medical professional acts negligently during the delivery of a child, it can result in the child in question suffering impactful birth injuries.
According to an article on the Omaha World-Herald’s website, a verdict was recently reached in a birth injury case from Nebraska. The case involved a child who was reportedly delivered in June of 2008. Reportedly, an obstetrician provided care in connection to the delivery of the child.
The child’s parents alleged that the obstetrician acted negligently during the child’s delivery. The child’s parents further claimed that the obstetrician’s alleged negligence caused the child to suffer nerve injuries and that these injuries have left the child’s left arm effectively paralyzed.
The child’s parents brought a lawsuit in a court in Nebraska against the above-mentioned obstetrician in connection to these allegations. A trial was held on this matter and the jury in this case recently reached its decision. According to the Omaha World-Herald article mentioned above, the jury ruled against the obstetrician and awarded the above-mentioned child a large monetary judgment.
As the allegations in this case underscore, delivery-related negligence by medical professionals can cause infants to suffer impactful birth injuries. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to avoid acting negligently when providing care in connection to the birth of a child.
