Great harm can be caused when a hospital or medical professional acts negligently while providing a patient with care after a surgery. No patient should have to suffer harm because a hospital or medical professional failed to act properly. Thus, it is very important for hospitals and medical professionals to not commit negligence when it comes to post-surgical care.
Recently, a jury reached a verdict in a case involving allegations of the above-mentioned type of medical negligence. The case involved a man who underwent a gastric bypass surgery at a hospital in Florida in May of 2007. The man reportedly received care from the hospital after undergoing the surgery.
The man claimed that the hospital acted negligently in regards to this care. The man also alleged that the hospital lied about the certifications of one of the doctors who provided him with care.
According to the man, the hospital’s alleged negligence caused him to suffer a variety of impactful injuries.
The man brought a lawsuit in Florida against the hospital in connection to these allegations. A trial was held on this matter. The jury in this case recently reached its verdict. According to the WJXT article which reported this story, the jury ruled against the hospital and awarded the man and his family a large monetary judgment.
As the allegations that were made in this recently-decided case illustrate, a patient can suffer great harm when a medical professional or hospital provides him or her with negligent post-surgical care. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and hospitals make sure to act properly when providing a patient with post-surgical care.
