A patient can suffer great harm when a medical professional acts negligently while providing the patient with care in connection to a surgical procedure. Tragically, such medical negligence can sometimes even result in a patient's death. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to act properly when providing care in connection to a surgery.
Recently, a case involving allegations of negligent surgical care has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent multiple plastic surgeries on July 14, 2011. Reportedly, the woman died two days after undergoing these surgeries.
It has been alleged that the doctor who performed these surgeries and a nurse anesthetist acted negligently in connection to the care they provided to the woman during and after the surgeries. It has further been alleged that this alleged negligence contributed to the woman's death.
According to the article on WLS's website which reported this story, the woman's estate has brought a wrongful death lawsuit in a court in Illinois in connection to these allegations. The lawsuit reportedly is asking for damages. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.
No patient should have to have his or her health and/or life put at risk because a medical professional failed to act properly when providing him or her with care in connection to a surgical procedure. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence like that alleged in the case discussed above.
