Man alleges negligence occurred during surgery he underwent

| Apr 12, 2012 | Surgical Errors

It is very important for medical professionals to act properly when providing a patient with care in connection to a surgery. When a medical professional acts negligently in connection to a surgical procedure, it can result in a patient suffer great harms. Such harms can have significant impacts on the life of a patient.

Recently, a medical malpractice case involving allegations of surgery-related negligence has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a man who reportedly underwent a surgery at a hospital in Illinois in 2009. The surgery in question was a knee replacement surgery.

The man alleges that he received negligent care during this surgery and that this alleged negligence caused him to suffer a variety of harms including:

  • Permanent nerve damage
  • Pain
  • Disfigurement
  • Mental anguish

A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by the man in connection to these allegations. Two doctors, two physician groups and the above-mentioned hospital have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. Reportedly, the man’s lawsuit is seeking damages. One wonders what will happen in this medical malpractice case and how it will ultimately be resolved.

As this medical malpractice case illustrates, surgery-related negligence can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to not act negligently while providing a patient with care related to a surgery. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence in connection to a surgical procedure and such negligence results in a patient getting hurt.
