No patient should have to be subjected to surgical negligence. Such negligence can cause a great deal of harm to patients. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to make sure to not commit negligence during the course of providing a patient with care in connection to a surgery.
Recently, a medical malpractice case involving allegations of surgical negligence was settled. The case was from California. The case involved a woman who reportedly underwent a spine surgery at a hospital in California.
The woman alleged that the doctor who performed this surgery acted negligently during the procedure and misplaced a metal plate and at least one surgical screw over the course of the surgery.
According to the woman, she suffered multiple harms, including having to undergo a second surgery, as a result of this alleged negligence.
The woman brought a lawsuit in a court in California against the above-mentioned doctor in connection to these allegations. According to the Ventura County Star article which reported this story, a settlement has been reached in the regards to this lawsuit. The specific terms of this settlement have not been made public.
This recently settled lawsuit was not the only lawsuit brought against the doctor in connection to his time at the above-mentioned California hospital. Reportedly, 17 other lawsuits have been brought against the doctor alleging that he acted negligently during surgeries performed at the California hospital.
Surgical negligence like that which was alleged in the above-mentioned recently settled case can be extremely harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to not act negligently when performing surgical procedures on patients.
