No patient should have to be subjected to surgical negligence. Such negligence can result in patients suffering harms. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to make sure to not act negligently when providing surgical care to patients.
Recently, a case involving allegations of surgical negligence has arisen in West Virginia. The case involves a woman who underwent a surgical procedure at a hospital in West Virginia in 2009. The surgery in question was a nephrectomy.
The woman claims that the doctor who performed this surgery committed negligence during his care of her. Specifically, the woman alleges that the doctor failed to properly close a surgical wound and acted negligently in connection to her post-surgical care. According to the woman, she suffered a variety of harms as a result of this alleged negligence, including pain and mental anguish.
In relation to these allegations, the woman has brought a lawsuit in a court in West Virginia against the above-mentioned doctor and an organization connected to the above-mentioned hospital. In this lawsuit, the woman reportedly is asking for compensatory damages. One wonders what will happen in this case and how it will ultimately be resolved.
Surgical negligence like that which has been alleged in this case can be extremely harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly when it comes to the surgical care of patients. One also hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit surgical negligence and such negligence results in a patient suffering harm.
