Lawsuit alleges medical negligence led to man’s death

| Jul 31, 2012 | Failure To Diagnose & Misdiagnosis

It is very important for medical professionals to not act negligently when it comes to the examining, testing and diagnosing of patients. Diagnosis-related negligence can cause a great deal of harm to patients, as it can lead to delays in a patient receiving proper treatment. Such medical negligence can sometimes even result in a patient’s death.

Recently, a wrongful death case involving allegations of medical negligence has arisen in Louisiana. The case involves a now-deceased man who reportedly received medical care in 2009.

The man’s wife claims that negligence occurred during the course of this care. Specifically, the man’s wife alleges that medical professionals negligently: failed to diagnose lung contusions the man was suffering from, failed to treat these contusions and made a medication-related mistake.

According to the man’s wife, this alleged negligence contributed to the man’s eventual death.

The man’s wife has brought a wrongful death lawsuit in a court in Louisiana in connection to these allegations. This lawsuit names multiple medical professionals as defendants. It has been reported that, in this lawsuit, the man’s wife is asking for damages. One wonders what will happen in this wrongful death case and how it will ultimately be resolved.

As the allegations in this case underscore, diagnosis-related negligence can be extremely harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they engage in negligence like that alleged in this case. No patient should have to suffer harm or lose his or her life because a medical professional committed diagnosis-related negligence.
