It can be very harmful when a medical professional negligently misdiagnoses a patient. For example, a negligent misdiagnosis can sometimes result in a patient undergoing unnecessary surgeries and procedures. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to not act negligently when it comes to the diagnosing of patients.
Recently, a case involving an alleged negligent misdiagnosis has arisen in Texas. The case involves a woman who reportedly received care from a doctor in Texas in 2011.
The woman alleges that the doctor acted negligently in connection to her care and diagnosed her with cancer when she actually had pneumonia.
According to the woman, this alleged negligent misdiagnosis resulted in her undergoing a surgery that was unnecessary. The surgery reportedly was performed by the above-mentioned doctor. The surgery involved the removal of part of the woman’s right lung. According to the woman, after this surgery, she had a heart attack.
A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Texas by the woman against the doctor in connection to the above allegations. According to the Ultimate Cy-Fair article which reported this story, damages are being sought in this lawsuit. One wonders what will happen in this case and how it will ultimately be resolved.
No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional negligently misdiagnosed them. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence like that alleged in this case. One also hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly when diagnosing patients.
