No patient should have to be subjected to surgery-related negligence. When a medical professional acts negligently while providing a patient with care in relation to a surgery, it can result in the patient suffering great harm.
A jury recently reached its decision in a case that involved allegations of surgery-related negligence. The case was from Illinois. The case involved a man who underwent a surgery in April 2001. The surgery in question was a sinus surgery.
According to the man, the doctor who performed this surgery damaged two of the man's eye muscles during the procedure. The man further alleged that the doctor failed to recognize and address this damage in a timely manner.
The man claimed that these alleged actions by the doctor resulted in him suffering permanent injury to the above-mentioned eye muscles.
A medical negligence lawsuit was brought by the man in a court in Illinois against the doctor in connection to the above allegations. A trial was held in regards to this matter and the jury recently reached its decision. The jury ruled in favor of the man and awarded him a monetary judgment.
As the allegations in this recently decided case illustrate, surgery-related negligence can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they engage in negligent conduct like that which was alleged in this case. One also hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly when providing patients with care in relation to a surgery.
