When a doctor provides post-surgical care to a patient, it is expected that the doctor will act properly in connection to this care. It is very important for doctors to live up to this expectation, as a patient's system can be in a very vulnerable position after a surgery. If a doctor fails to live up to this expectation and commits negligence while providing post-surgical care, it can result in a patient suffering great harm.
A medical malpractice case has recently arisen involving allegations of negligent post-surgical care. The case is from West Virginia. The case involves a woman who underwent a set of surgical procedures in December 2010. The case regards the care the woman received from two doctors after the surgeries (one of the two doctors was the doctor who performed the surgeries).
The woman claims that these two doctors acted negligently when providing her with care and that this alleged negligence resulted in her suffering serious complications and impactful injuries.
A medical malpractice lawsuit has been brought by the woman and her husband in a court in West Virginia in connection to these allegations. The two above-mentioned doctors have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. The lawsuit reportedly is asking for punitive and compensatory damages. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.
No patient should have to be subjected to negligent post-surgical care. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they engage in negligence like that alleged in this case.
