Birth injuries can be very impactful on a child. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities that provide delivery-related care avoid engaging in negligence which could cause birth injuries to occur. No infant should have to suffer harm because a medical professional or medical facility acted negligently during the course of providing delivery-related care.
Recently, a birth injury case has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a woman who, in October 2011, gave birth to a child.
The woman alleged that a doctor who provided care in relation to the birth of the child acted negligently during the delivery process. Included among the negligent actions the woman alleges the doctor committed are a failure to respond properly to certain readings from a fetal heart rate monitor and a failure to use a certain monitoring device through the entirety of the delivery process.
According to the woman, the doctor's alleged negligence during the delivery process resulted in her child suffering injuries.
A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by the woman in connection to these allegations. The lawsuit names the above-mentioned doctor, a hospital and a women's healthcare practice as defendants. It has been reported that damages are being sought in this lawsuit. One wonders what will ultimately happen in this case.
As the allegations in this case illustrate, delivery-related negligence can be very harmful. One hopes medical professionals and medical facilities are held accountable when they fail to act properly when providing delivery-related care and such failure results in an infant suffering injuries.
