When medical professionals act negligently when providing surgical care to patients, it can result in patients suffering significant harms. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals to not commit surgical negligence. No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional failed to act properly.
A medical malpractice case has recently arisen that involves allegations of surgery-related negligence. The case is from Illinois. The case involves a woman who underwent a surgical procedure in January 2011.
According to the woman, the doctor who performed this surgery acted negligently in connection to the procedure. Among the negligent conduct the woman alleges the doctor committed was a failure to properly place surgical screws that were implanted during the surgery. According to the woman, the alleged improper placement of the screws caused her to suffer extreme pain for months after the surgery.
A lawsuit has been brought by the woman in a court in Illinois in connection to these allegations. The lawsuit names the above-mentioned doctor and a company that was the doctor's employer at the time of the surgery as defendants. It has been reported that damages are being sought in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this medical malpractice case.
Surgical negligence, like that alleged in this case, can be very harmful to patients. One hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit harmful surgical negligence. One also hopes all medical professionals make sure to act properly when providing surgical care to patients.
