When a person undergoes a surgical procedure, they put a great deal of trust in the medical professionals who are providing them with care in connection to the procedure. When medical professionals fail to live up to this trust and act negligently while providing surgical care, it can result in patients suffering great harm. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly when providing care in relation to a surgical procedure.
Recently, a case has arisen involving allegations of surgery-related negligence. The case is from Illinois. The case involves a woman who underwent a surgery in January 2011. The surgery in question was a knee replacement surgery.
According to the woman, the doctor who performed this surgery acted negligently in connection to the procedure. Included among the negligent actions that the woman claims the doctor committed was a failure to properly align the knee replacement device during the procedure.
The woman alleges that the doctor’s alleged negligent actions resulted in her suffering pain and having to undergo a revision procedure.
A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by the woman against the doctor in connection to the above allegations. According to the article on the Madison/St. Clair Record’s website which reported this story, damages are being sought in this lawsuit.
No patient should have to be subjected to surgery-related negligence. As the allegations in this case underscore, surgery-related negligence can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they engage in harmful surgery-related negligence.
