Lawsuit brought in connection to alleged prescription error

| Jan 28, 2013 | Anesthesia & Medication Errors

No individual should have to be subjected to prescription-related negligence. When a pharmacist or pharmacy acts negligently in connection to the filling of a prescription, it can result in the individual the prescription is for suffering great harms. Such harms can have significant impacts on an individual’s life. Thus, it is very important for pharmacists and pharmacies to act properly when it comes to filling prescriptions.

A case has recently arisen involving allegations of prescription-related negligence. The case involves a woman who, in November 2011, got a couple of prescriptions filled at the pharmacy of a store in Louisiana.

According to the woman, an error occurred in connection to the filling of one of these prescriptions. Specifically, the woman claims that a medication other than the one she was prescribed got mixed into the medicine bottle for this prescription.

Reportedly, the woman took some of this wrong medication. According to the woman, after she took this medication, she suffered a heart attack.

A lawsuit has been brought in a court in Louisiana by the woman in connection to the above allegations. The lawsuit names a pharmacist, a technician associate and the above-mentioned store as defendants. The lawsuit is asking for damages.

As the allegations in this case underscore, prescription-related negligence can be very harmful. Thus, one hopes that all pharmacists and pharmacies make sure to not act negligently in regards to the filling of prescriptions. One also hopes that pharmacists and pharmacies are held accountable when they commit prescription-related negligence and such negligence results in an individual getting hurt.
