Boy riding bicycle suffers head injury in crash with truck

When there is an accident in Boston, the worst case scenario is if there is a fatality. However, another terrible result from an accident is a head injury. With this type of injury, the potential ramifications are extensive. It can lead to the need for a long hospital stay, rehabilitation and the possibility that the victim will never return to normal due to brain damage. No matter the cause, it's important victims and their families know what to do in the aftermath of such an injury.

A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after suffering a head injury in a crash with a Verizon truck. The accident happened at approximately 11:45 a.m. as the boy was riding through the intersection. According to the initial investigation, the boy was wearing a helmet and it's believed that it saved his life. The driver of the truck was uninjured, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Whether an accident that results in a head injury is due to a negligent person, unsafe conditions, a criminal act or unforeseen circumstances, the possible long-term problems that can result are universal. Since the brain is so important in daily life, any amount of brain damage can lead to hefty consequences. In many instances, it's not known that a person has suffered an injury to the brain until they begin to exhibit symptoms such as nausea, irritability, headaches and sluggishness among many others. A head injury can result in massive bills, the need for rehabilitation and possibly long-term care. This can put a strain on a family's finances. It's important that a full investigation be conducted into the accident soon after it happened so evidence can be gathered to determine its cause and who's responsible.

In the case of the young bicyclist, he suffered a head injury when he was hit by a Verizon truck. Luckily for him, he was wearing a helmet. That, however, didn't save him from suffering a head injury that required him to be airlifted to the hospital. Until his condition is known and it's understood how badly he's hurt, his family needs to be informed how to move forward in seeking accident compensation. For that, it is a wise decision to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in cases involving a head injury.
