Find ways to reduce your on-the-job stress while working

In Boston, Massachusetts, there are accidents at work sites. Some of those result in claims for workers' compensation. The role of stress in those accidents is often overlooked.

Stress, infamous for accelerating aging, can also impair judgment and directly lead to physical problems as severe as fatal heart attacks. Work-related issues are, according to numerous source of studies, a major source of stress for many people that has gotten worse and worse across the decades.

Often the reason that people experience stress from their jobs is less due to the work itself and more due to the people that they have to work with. This is known to everyone who has had an unreasonable boss or especially insipid co-workers.

That noted, work-related stress also comes from a job being a bad match for the person who has it. If the person and his or her work environment are a poor fit, the person will experience constant stress with no on-the-job positive experiences to address that stress. For example, some people might find working on an assembly line so gratingly repetitive and dull that it drives their stress levels off the chart, even though others may feel suited to that environment. Of course, there are some who find a fast-paced work environment the most stressful, feel like they can't keep up with the demands placed on them and feel stressed all the time.

Correspondingly, one of the most important things that a person can do to minimize stress while working is to pick the kind of job that works for his or her personality in the first place. Understanding yourself and what works for you is key to planning positive change. Even before you are able to make a change in the type of work that you do to minimize your stress, you can still help yourself by maximizing your sense of control over what you are doing at your job. You can do that by having clear communications with others at work so you know what you have to do and can approach it in the way that works best for you.
